UHIP

                              University Health Insurance Plan

The University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) provides affordable hospital and medical insurance to international and exchange students. It is mandatory for all international and exchange students. You need this coverage to maintain your health while attending university in Ontario. For more information go to http://www.wlu.ca/busioff and follow link to International Students.   All OHIP listed services relating to physician visits at Health Services are fully covered through UHIP. Certain de-listed services such as travel advice, third party requests and wart treatments are not covered.
The UHIP cost has been added to your invoice. You must visit the Business Office (Waterloo) on arrival to sign forms to activate your coverage.

Activating health insurance

It is important for you to pick up your UHIP card at the Business Office.

-At EACH visit to Health Services, after hours clinics or hospital, students will need to bring their UHIP card as proof-of-coverage.
- UHIP cards will be available for pick up at the Business Office at 202 Regina St., Waterloo.

- You will receive an e-mail from the Business Office (to your WLU e-mail address) when your card is available for pick up. You should pick up the card as soon as possible to ensure access to health care
